Im guessing the car has had little aero development, so focus has been on the engine to make sure they are ahead of the Audi's ... Is that 3 blows? Bad stuff.

Obviously consistency is vital in endurance racing.. but i'm not sure Peugeot's 3 right banks blowing is the sort of consistency to aim for

This race certainly sounds interesting! The only field that's remained largely un-touched by disaster is the LMP2.

I just wish I had a way to watch it (internet far too slow and no Eurosport on TV )

Summary is ACO Reg 5.5.3 states 'The engine must not produce visible exhaust emissions under race conditions.'

And all the diesels in the race have.

If a Petrol team protests this.. we could have the top 3 Audi cars disqualified resulting in a Petrol car winning!

Big strategic failure...

Peugeot should have learned from 2009's race, when the "reserve" car won: you don't race 4 cars at Le Mans all running at the same pace. Audi showed that you can get a 1-2-3, but only when you aren't aiming for it.

We must have watched a different race. The catalytic soot converters work 99.9% perfect. If you ever see a wiff of smoke it surely is not more than the smoke and flames you see from petrol engined cars when they downshift. Usually it only happens when they jump over a hill. I believe that they loose some oil through a vent in that case.

Audi now in formation flight. This has been the fastest race for more than 40 years.

The story goes that the Porsche curves were built to make that Porsche record last forever. It lasted 39 years.

All endurance commentators were saying that Davidson was behaving a bit like a maniac. The slower drivers are told that they should not change their lines and everybody assumes that the faster cars do not take the risks that Davidson took in that pass. I think that swearing on Davidson is a bit over the top, but Ray has a point that it was a pretty rude move for a 24 h race. Obviously loosing one or two seconds for a safer pass will not change the result of your race but it would have helped poor Olivier Beretta who stuffed it into the armco out of shock.

Congratulations to Audi #9 for their win and to Audi for their first 1-2-3.

On the hand of Peugoet, i think the raced each of their cars to the brink and thats where they broke their cars. Instead of going steady in the first few hours and thinking about finishing, they went all out, and about 20-22 hours was their maximum.

Outstanging LMP2 win for Strakka Racing (Nick Wirth designed chassis as it is the old Acura chassis with a HPD engine) and best petrol entry for Oreca AIM in LMP1. And in LMGT1 Saleen finally win, on the last ever outing fo GT1 as GT1 is now a sprint championship. LMGT2 was a blooming good race as well, constantly changing lead with Ferarri and Porsche, but Porsche won out in the end.

Its also came out that Nigel Mansell has been diagnosed with a slight concussion after his tyre blow out at 160mph on the run down to Indionapolis from Mulsanne Corner.
