Good luck Peter,
sounds like an interesting challenge, and will sure raise some eyebrows
with your friends/competitors.
Even if it doesn`t work out for your application, sure you will get people worried/thinking :D

P.S.: Not sure if it is an advantage with foam tires, but worth a try anyway

i'm good with that, a few years back i ran with a 3rd spring/damper combi on the rear suspension, and 99% of the R/C drivers tought it was a sprung antirollbar :D

With 1:8 scale cars they have 62mm wide rear tires, and a max trackwith of 265mm.
Those foam tires can't tolorate much camber change, and they don't flex much either.
What some people do is removing material from the rim, to make it flex more.....riiight.

in about 1,5 week time i have some holidays and i will work something out for my 1:8scale car.... i will keep you guys posted.

What´s the problem with the camber change/tire?
It´s a long time since I was involved in RC-Car racing (1:12/1:10 electric),
but if I remember correct, the tires used to wear quite conical - No ?!?

But this was over 20 years ago, so things have probably changed a lot since.
Last time I had a closer look was during the 1:4 world championships in Australia
in 2008, as a friend of mine raced there, but they use a rubber tire.
Now 1:10 petrol cars seem to be much more common then 1:8 at least here in South America.

The power train is something i use from my old car, there is no sense in designing and producing belts and pullies when you can buy satisifing stuff.

The main chassis parts i will make myself [well, let someone do the cnc work]
this is what i have already:

within 2 weeks i have some holidays and i go back behind the screen with a caliper and a lot of parts that i have to design, but buy, to see if it all fits.
It is all very conceptual, and yes... i still have to calculate the length/diameter for my torsionbars.

before burning me on a major design/construction error... I make websites for a living. ;-)
but... any design tips are very welcome!
[i'm fixxed to a mac, so i don't have access to catia/proE...]
