First of all the pic must me on the web - you can't upload pic directly from your pc. To put pic on web you must register on some free web space like yahoo geocities http://geocities.yahoo.com/ . If you already have some yahoo e-mail account than just use same user name and password to sign in to geocities and select easy upload - select pic from your pc and upload it. To get full url of the pic after uploading just click on address that is shown on page like - http://geocities.com/yourusername and than copy url of the picture like -
http://geocities.com/yourusername/yourpic.jpg

To insert picture in post first click Img than add url (paste it) and after that click Img again

like this only without space between [ img ] and [/ img ]

To get url of some pic on the web (any pic except those protected) right click on pic than click Properties and copy url from Address.

Free and good options to put your pictures online are:

http://www.imgspot.com/
http://www.imageshack.us/

You can freely upload pictures after which you get the link to them.
I've tried both and they do what they should :)

Before you can post a video or picture you need to have it hosted by someone who owns web space on the internet. If you have your own internet site that would be one way to do it.

Most people use http://www.Youtube.com for having their videos hosted for free. Another host for free picture hosting is http://www.imageshack.us

I will comment the hosting of a picture at imageshack. If you only do an occasional picture you don't even need to register and log in. You simply use the preselected option to upload media and push the button for file selection. In the next dialogue you select your picture file which should regularly have a .jpg extension for Windows or a .png extension for Apple OSX. You upload it and you are offered a number of different links to the uploaded picture. Copy the direct link into your browser. You are now finished with having your picture hosted on the internet and you can now use your link in any post here on F1technical or elsewhere on the internet. I have just done this and my link would be: http://a.imageshack.us/img818/6559/bild ... 00814u.png

To post the picture in a thread is a fairly simple procedure. You past the link into your post as I did above. Then you select the posted link with your cursor as if you want to copy it again and when you have it highlighted you select the Img box on top of your editing window. This operation wraps your link in image code brackets.

[img][img][/img]

I left a third code bracket between the two brackets to show you where you would have your link. And that is all. I do it now with my picture:

If you do a video you do the same thing with youtube and use the code brackets for Youtube instead of the image code brackets.

So remember the sequence of events:
  • go to a hosting site
  • select your image file
  • upload your image file
  • obtain a link to the uploaded media (picture) file
  • make your post
  • past your direct link into your post
  • wrap the direct link in image code brackets
  • submit your post as usual

Take image, upload to free image hosting site like imgur.com or imageshack.us. (they have a browse button)

When upload is complete, the site will list a bunch of different formats of links to the picture, you want to copy the 'direct' link.

Paste the link in your message, then highlight it.

Once highlighter click on -image- at the top, and it will wrap the link you pasted with the starting and ending image tags.

No the image needs to be 'hosted' on the web somewhere. The image never sits on the f1technical server, it's location is just referenced.

Go through the steps I posted.
