It´s sort of F1 material seeing as it´s about Lewis, and a small part with Vettel in the end. (obviously got smoked :))

Complete and utter domination in cars more or less the same, way more then F1 anyway.

15 out of 20 races won.
13 out of 20 pole positions.
10 out of 20 fastest laps.

This is also a pretty interesting video when he was much younger,

This, along with all the other brilliant passes Hamilton has made this season should tell you exactly how much bollocks the "Hamilton's driving standards" thread is ;)

It's worth mentioning this was Hamilton's 2nd year in the series and in the first one he had struggled a bit (by his standards ), and also this was Vettel's rookie season if I'm not mistaken.

But still...

Well we can get those numbers aswell ;)

Lewis Hamilton 2004 (Rookie Season)

1 Pole Position
2 fastest laps
1 races won

Sebastian Vettel 2005 (Rookie Season)

0 Pole Position
1 fastest lap
0 races won

Sebastian Vettel 2006 (same year as for Hamilton 2005 i.e. second year.)

1 Pole Position
5 fastest laps
4 races won

compared to Hamilton´s second year:

13 pole positions
10 fastest laps
15 races won

Di Resta was in the same car as Vettel and won the championship by 11 points.

Di Resta

5 Pole Positions
1 fastest laps
5 races won

Same car, same year, same equipment, not a rookie year.

Hamilton´s first year in GP2.

1 Pole Position
7 fastest laps
5 races won

= WDC of GP2 2006 in his rookie year.

No problem Belseebob :) i like to nit-pick what can i say lol.

Hamilton´s rookie year in Formula 1.

6/17 Pole Positions
2/17 fastest laps
4/17 races won

1 single point from winning the Championship in his rookie year.

Hamilton´s second year in Formula 1.

7/18 Pole Positions
1/18 fastest laps
5/18 races won

1 single point ahead of runner-up Massa, WDC in his second year in Formula 1.

Hamilton´s third year in Formula 1.

4/17 Pole Positions (same as Vettel and Button in far superior cars)
0/17 fastest laps
2/17 races won

4th in the Championship with a complete dog of a car.

Bottom line, give him a car that is only so so capable of winning a championship and he will do it.

Still i rate Alonso higher but that´s just me ;)

Some might argue that the 2009 McLaren was not at all "a complete dog" by the end of the season. To me, it seemed like the McLaren was the second best (maybe even the best right at the end). It started in the midfield, then had a substantial drop at the start of the "European season", but they got the car turned around.
Hamilton is very good, he might even be the best (how would we know?) but he's not God.

He´s pretty damn close though ;)
well it´s true they turned it around in the end but to have a championship winning car you need it from the start or atleast halfway through the season.

I´ve always said for pure speed, nobody can touch Hamilton. Put them all in the same car and he would destroy F1 drivers for breakfast.
I think he would give Senna a run for his money aswell.
It´s just that his skills are somewhat hidden because of how the cars are today compared to the late eighties for example.

You cant compare drivers using different seasons. Those Hamilton - Vettel numbers mean nothing to me. Even if I rate Hamilton higher than Vettel.

F3 cars are not the same. Rivals are not the same. Engineers and mechanics are not the same. Bottomline, you cant compare. The only way would be if both drivers are in the same team with the same developments in their cars.

And please dont tell me F3 cars are all equals. There are teams that can setup cars better than others, there are engineers that can find different bits to be faster and there are engineers that can coach drivers better.

I work with F. Renault cars and I can tell all the cars are not the same...

Lewis drove for ASM right?

The car's and teams are not as similar as you might want to think. That team owned the EuroF3 championship. Jamie Green the year before Lewis also had pretty amazing success against the competition...

Im not saying it wasnt a special season, im just saying its not as clear cut as you make it seem. I dont know how many championships ASM have won, but I do know if you wanted to win, they were the team to drive for.

The numbers are indeed impressive, but what you are trying to achieve with regards to the Vettel comparison exactly? Surely what matter's is there here and now?

Paul diresta beat Vettel.. Hamilton has never been beaten... Take that Vettel! lol

Anyway I think those videos are a testament to what it's like when a driver has "sight beyond sight."

There are more then enough threads about Hamilton, and not exactly adding anything new other than published stats and videos. Locked.
