How sure are you that this is an indication of tyre deg, and not doing 6 laps to see how the car is handling, and then one lap of aero testing?

Could be. Maybe they are doing aero testing at the end of their stints, but it happened yesterday as well & I dont know why they would do aero testing on the last lap of a stint time & again.

Which tyres did he use for those two stints? The timings show degradation of tyres, but it may not be that significant as it looks. May be he slowed to cool down the tyres or may be it's aero testing. It's hard to figure out, ain't it?

25 sets I guess. Check the Jerez test topic. Someone posted the details of tyre statistics published by Pirelli after the test.

Maldonaldo seems to be on a race sim now. Lap times are also consistent. He is onto his 2nd stint now.

Kamui sets a 1.22.749 on Medium Tyres. That is quick. Sauber is probably quicker than Williams.

Edit - Sauber just does a 1.22.520. Best S1 & S2 times but Kamui has a lock up at the chiacane. So he could probably go even quicker. SOFT TYRE RUN

Haha This feels like testing now. Sauber's empty tank runs & topping the times to get sponsors.

Sauber is actually on a Short Stint not 1 lap run. Impressed. The car could be a SOLID MID-FIELD car.

Button just now did a 12 lap stint, out of which 11 laps were in the 1:28s region. Dunno about the tyres and the fuel loads. He may not be pushing hard also. Who knows?

But still, remarkable consistency. =D>

The teams tend to use the afternoon for race sims.

Those hard tires put in a few quick laps and fall off quick and then seem to stabilize on the W03. Are the other teams seeing the same performance?

No. I dont agree. I think Nico is pushing too hard in the first 2 laps. That is not the case with MSC. His lap times tend to stablize a lot. No big fall. Michael is probably trying to strech his tyres & not pushing hard when the tyres are fresh.

Nico I think is going all out in the first 2 laps as such. I have not seen such huge 1.5s type falls in the first 2-3 laps in other teams.
