Australian GP 2012 - Albert Park

Just one of those days for Caterham 18 Mar 2012

Caterham had a double DNF on their first race, but despite the actual result, it was not all bad for the team. Both drivers had shown promising pace in the first half of the race, but for both drivers the reliability of their cars was not at the same level.

I'd be very thankful for them as well. I've done some nifty race lap time visualization with pit stop corrected times, "stuck behind someone" effect, and whatnot (lot better than mclarenf-1.com) but I don't have Melbourne pit stop timing information and I can't upload my stuff before I have it.

I remember that last season someone saved all FIA pdf-s and uploaded them in zip files. Any chance with the Melbourne 2012 package?

If someone said to me that you can have three wishes, my first would have been to get into racing, my second to be in Formula 1, my third to drive for Ferrari.

Wow that's a mega stop. I wonder how much time they've lost in the pits by virtue of losing the hydrogen gas for the guns (all teams I mean). I remember Ferrari did 2.3 seconds in the pre-redflag safety car in Canada

Rumour is they're using Nitrogen...idk what the advantage is of Nitrogen considering its quite cold and very dangerous if mistreated....maybe someone who has a chemistry background can elaborate?

Nitrogen is inert and not at all dangerous. You're probably thinking of liquid nitrogen, something they are certainly not using, which is very very cold and is therefore dangerous if mishandled.

Nitrogen advantage is what? less compression then air i suppose?

The regs require all the teams to use nitrogen.

Ferrari seem to use a very coarse thread for the wheel nuts compared to most other team, is this likely to have any appreceable significance on decreasing pit stop time?
