Hi,

Does anyone have any idea of the lengths of the main straights for the various tracks in the calendar? A list for the 2012 season would be great but even just some information about the shortest and longest would be great.

Thanks in advance,

shortest straight would be Monaco, the longest straight is a bit dubious - Korea claims to have the longest, as does the Yas Marina circuit in Abu Dhabi, as does the Shanghai circuit I believe.

A quick check says Korea is the longest, Abu Dhabi is second longest, China is third longest.

I was hoping for some stats, like actual lengths of the main straights.

Yas Marina – 1.2km;
China - 1.2km too, but apparently a few meters short
Korea - 1.5km
Monaco - ~350m

Yeongam circuit in Korea also has a 1.2km straight: http://www.formula1.com/races/in_detail/korea_840/circuit_history.html

Beelsebob, you are thinking of Fuji raceway - that has the 1.5km straight, one of the longest in the world of motor sport.

Huh, weird, I had another source citing that it was a hundred yards short of a mile long, but I think yours trumps it.

There's some controversy over the Yas Marina straight length IIRC. The track width sort of reduces in the middle - some measurements only go up to there, while others go up to the chicane.

Hah, calling the narrowing a "corner" is retarded.

Apparently it's considered by some to be a kink - like Turn 12 in Turkey.

The Monaco circuit is going to have to buy a flashy sports car and big house to compensate
