Are you referring to Mika's two WDC and then failing to win 2000?

Not only that.

1992 - won both
1993 - won both
1994 - did not win WDC but did win the WCC

1996 - won both
1997 - won both
1998 - did win both but with a new team.

2010 - won both
2011 - won both
2012 - ?? :)

Hopefully history will repeat itself as he is still with RBR.

Alonso is due a bad race.

And what happened in 1999?

Won WDC and lost WCC  . I don't see a plausible pattern emerging.

OT: I think Newey's car will win both again. But I'd like Webber to win the WDC.

well first of all it´s a joke, not really a pattern as that would mean F1 is orchestrated.
But it is funny because he has never won 3 WDC titles with the same team. Not that i know of.

I know it was, hence the:  .

I don't see why he can't do it this time around: Red Bull are a phenomenal team in every single department.

Yea no doubt he can, the question is will he :)

I guess we will find out ;) What we do know is that the road to the title isn´t as clear as in 2011 for RBR in terms of WDC.

it isnt as clear but with the update the car looks monstrously quick so i think we'll have to wait till hockenheim to tell for sure what his chances are

Yea but the Ferrari seems to get quicker race by race almost :)
And the Mclaren we know has incredible pure pace when it clicks you don´t take 3* poles otherwise.

That's what makes Alonso great – he's always due a bad race, and it never comes.

*Conspiracy Hat* What I am concerned about is a latter half turning into a repeat of RBR 2011, where the overall goal of cleaning up the WDC and WCC means that Vettel (or Webber? but not very likely) will have developments and strategy cater to him, with Webber fighting hard...for 2nd and 3rd or 4th keeping Alonso and the rest of the field at bay.

Agreed. RBR want it more it looks. They have consistency and two awesome drivers capable of winning and taking max points along with a car that is there or thereabouts more often than not. Alonso, although he's probably the best driver out there, doesn't have the car, the team, the co-driver and hence the complete package, like RBR have. Purely on the setup, RBR would have to be favourites.

Now, all this talk about may be for naught because my favourite brand *cough* not, Pirelli are talking about bringing in a new tyre, but 'they don't want to upset the balance and hinder any teams'.... lol, yeah right, oxymoron anyone. So my money is staying firmly in my pocket.

I think the public want Alonso to win it.
MrE wants Ferrari to win it.
RBR will probably win it.
McLaren prob won't win it.
Lotus have a shot at it.

I stand by that quote. Germany, however, was Alonso all the way. From Pole to Flag, he showed utter class and I certainly rate that as a very deserving win.

Agreed. But we certainly need an errant bird's help to close things up in the points as it stands. Alonso is not one to be laughed at in the slightest with a 34 point lead. He can afford to lose 3.4 points per race!

I recognized that only Alonso managed to score points every race. Few more wins by him and he could be this year Champion.

Webber(2times win)-Raikkonen(non-win) did not score for 1 race each with 22points different among them. While Hamilton(and Vettel) did not score for 2 races but thanks to his win at Canada, Hamilton is only 6 points behind Raikkonen.

If Lotus and Raikkonen can improve their weekend performance, Raikkonen might be in for the late-season title fight (a win or two maybe?). Same thing goes to McLaren - Hamilton if they can consistenly score some good points they might able to keep the hope alive.

Soon the less consistent team/driver will drop away the title fight.

Its a long way I know, just saying. :?
