I did watch the 1981 German grand prix, I thanked you for posting it, I found it interesting... and less than exciting.
I liked having it there so much, that I just watched the 1984 Italian grand prix posted above it. Interesting to watch, thanks for posting it! I am interested in history and old races.

Now, if I am allowed to have an opinion and post it, I'll do just that, right here, in an open internet forum. Did I have an obligation to find the race fascinating?

Regarding the 1984 grand prix at Monza, I was very surprised by two things (other than the unbelievable number of cars running out of fuel with 5 laps to go):
1) How similar it was to now-a-days races.
2) How huge rear wings were. I assume back then there were no circuit specific aero packages and/or Monza wasn't that different to other circuits in use?

If you guys have some decent footage of Monza races before they seeded chicanes all over it in 1972, I would actually be thrilled to watch it... and feel no obligation to like it.

And I really mean it:
What used to be going on at the Ostkurve while it was a real high speed corner?

Thanks for the offer, I often have a look at your videos, but don't do anything special. Time to watch whole races is scarce. This weekend the links and spare time aligned themselves with the summer break, but the weekend is over, so...

Something with the audio on this one, gearshifts doesn't correspond to the sound. There's a cool sound with tyres squeeling just after the corner leading to motodrome, so I guess the sound is delayed.

It's an old AVI capture where they didn't interleave the video and sound. I can't fix it...It was to show the Ostkurve.

We have talked about how in the past driver would do other things besides just F1.
This video looks at what Graham Hill, Bruce McLaren, Innes Ireland and Mike Hailwood did in the time between the French GP and the European GP at Brands Hatch in 1964.
Graham, Bruce and Innes all take part in the Reims 12 Hr Sports Car race and mike the bike Hailwood heads to Spa for the 500cc Motorcycle GP. Graham plays business man..Innes shows toys and more....
BTW...check out the start of the video where they are talking about the just finished French GP.

1987:

The 1987 World Championship featured a season long duel between the two Williams drivers: Brazilian two-time champion Nelson Piquet and British driver Nigel Mansell. The pair won nine of the seasons sixteen races in their Williams FW11Bs, although they had only one win from the first five races. Their mid-season dominance eliminated all competition however. Mansell took six wins compared to the more consistent Piquet with three. The increasingly antagonistic duel came to a premature end at the Japanese Grand Prix when Mansell crashed heavily in practice incurring a back injury that put him out for the two races left in the season.
The battle for third in the championship was also resolved late in the season, with Brazilian driver Ayrton Senna driving a Lotus 99T finished nine points clear of outgoing world champion Frenchman Alain Prost (McLaren MP4/3).
