So Paddy Lowe is also off to Mercedes. This is a big loss for McLaren.

The loss of Technical Director, Paddy Lowe who has been with McLaren 20 years will in my opinion weaken the Woking based team. This move orchestrated by Toto Wolff is excellent for AMG Mercedes.

Is there already an official statement somewhere about that? I only know that bild came up with the rumour and the telegraph took it over, but nowhere something solid.

Anyhow, that would indeed be quite the blow for McLaren. Loosing both Pat Fry and Paddy Lowe in a few years; and with 2014 coming ever closer, you are going to need someone of their calibre.

To be honest - mine completely was. I suspect Tim Goss is somewhere near 2nd in command of the design operation at McLaren. I suspect Goss or Oatley to take over the TD spot. Or perhaps Michael, as an outside 3rd bet.
