It's a shame Bernie thought it was "boring" , else if it appeared and was perfected in F1, undoubtably we would all be driving CVT's now, which means more power and more economy

As much as I love the advantages of the CVT, i've driven two now, the Nissan variation, and the Audi one, and frankly, i love the endless toque on both, but I just hate with a passion the uninspired drive. They dont feel sporty. With the Audi i was peddling,(not my car, didint want to write it off), but in the Maxima, I was pushing the envelope, and I was unimpressed with the lack of emotion in it. I will take my 6-speed manual any day over almost any gearbox, aside from a Ferrari sequential paddle shift. :D

CVT would most probably be a lot cheaper than the new seamless shift transmissions and far more efficient.
Who's talking about cost savings????
Anyway, Sir Frank was never an efficient lobbyist within the current FIA structure. If he was, the outcome could be very different...

In theory I love the idea, but I simply don't want to hear 24 cars at 19,000rpm the whole race, no matter if they are on a straight or a chicane or a hairpin, it would sound awful.

I'll admit think that the lack of technical innovation will eventually kill F1
(or worse turn the sport into a open-wheeled NASCAR)

But, nothing beats the sound of a Grand Prix car go through the revs!!!!
