So we're on a 2016 Spanish Grand Prix topic arguing about incidents that took place between 3-13 years ago when cars, people and driving styles were different. What a time to be alive.

Honestly, who cares? Neither Alonso or Vettel are going to win the race and won't be for quiet some time at least. There's a 99.999999999% chance a Mercedes car will win. Until I see Red Bull or Ferrari or McLaren get within a Merc diffuser, there's no point telling who the better driver is.

Vettel has a poor qualifying, and hits Kvyat at the start.
Raikkonen gets a blinding start, out-brakes himself, and clatters into both Mercedes.
Verstappen leads the race, only to be caught by Ricciardo. Entertainment ensues until it ends in tears with a collision at turn 1.
Bottas leads, only to hear his water pressure is dropping. He gradually fades into retirement.
Alonso leads with 5 laps to go; rapidly caught by Grosjean on an aggressive 3-stop.
Grosjean passes Alonso with a lap to go.
Grosjean wins, and wears a bulletproof vest on the podium.

PS: I agree Alonso is great, but I wouldn´t say that much when compared to Vettel. Seb conviced me about his talent lately. Also, today the car is still vastly important under the rain. It´s not like the old days when a great driver could win on a poor car, today DF is a key factor under the rain.

Anyway I hope you are right and we see some rain.

On the other hand, Charlie is another factor, if it rains he will ruin the race, only because its "too dangerous"....

Absurd discussion if you ask me, but IMHO that incident is completely different, one is a brake test trying to cause someone´s accident, while the other is a usual attempt to block someone who´s trying to pass you. I didn´t even see any abrupt change of direction, and he still left space at both sides, so I think this was more of a mistake by Coulthard who was not prepared for Alonso´s defensive move than Alonso doing something wrong.

Vettel incident OTOH is different, he brakes on a point nobody brake, without any reason as he was the leader. You can easily see that comparing Alonso´s distance with Vettel and Massa cars. I sincerely think he was trying to get Alonso out of the race.

oh dear, don't touch or comment even with the slightest hint of negativity on ANYHTING spanish.

Second, please quote one single post by me saying Sainz, Alguersuari, Merhi, De la Rosa or Gene are top level drivers. With only one I´ll accept your criticism, until then I´ll be forced to think you´re also an extremely biased person who think the rest of the world is equally biased

No they´re not, I check the site often, almost daily, and I can assure they´re extremely reliable, even the hour by hour prediction.

Well, at least if you check the coming days, as predictions for more than 3 days are more of a speculation than a prediction

No they´re not, I check the site often, almost daily, and I can assure they´re extremely reliable, even the hour by hour prediction.

Do you live in Madrid? don´t you? its different because continental weather is much easier to predict than sea influenced climate. I check several websites and Aemet is not between best ones but I live in the north and here the weather is not reliable at all.

Anyway, anything beyond 3 days is a "un brindis al sol" like we say in Spanish.

To be honest I don't expect much fireworks. The Red Bull news has already settled down, and most people have commented on the topic already. Verstappen is obviously happy, Sainz still thinks there is a good chance for him to earn promotion too. Kvyat will naturally be downbeat, but what can he say, it's all up to his performance now.

Also the media will want to know about Hamilton and his Mercedes relationship, how he goes into the weekend, what the team has done to improve reliability etc.

Driver press conferences are dull more often then not. Thinking about it, they shoul be done right after the race with the top 10 rather then before the weekend if we want emotions and fireworks

I've seen some twitter reports from Spain stating that the mayor of Barcelona wants to get rid of the Formula One and MotoGP races for being "elitist". Can anyone find any news on that front?
