Not sure I understand the aura around Cosworth these days. They certainly are not the same company that did the good stuff back in the day. Their last foray in to F1 wasn't exactly Earth shattering.

Also, does "Cosworth" mean the one owned by the Champ Car guys or the one owned by Mahle (i.e. Mahle Powertrains)?

Pretty interesting info. Engine will be 6.5 V12 developed in conjunction with cosworth. Ricardo 7 speed gearbox, and battery pack from Rimac. So it will be a hybrid.
I'm surprised it'll be a 6.5 litre motor more than anything, I'd have thought Cosworth could get 1,000 HP out of a smaller engine, say 4 litre's? 6.5 litre just seems huge!
It's still ostensibly a road car, and the specific output is inline with other high performance NA engines. For it to be a 4L it would probably have to rev to 13-15k RPM which is a little extreme for a 'road car'.

Have you seen the pic's of it? Everything about it is extreme. :D

If you're not using turbos, you only have 2 other options to increase hp, thats either more revs, or more displacement.
To get enough air through a 4 litre engine to produce 1000 hp you would need to rev the hell out of it.
The Ferrari F12 engine is also 6.3 litres and it produces 800 hp at 9000 rpm's.

Fair enuf.

Just out of curiosity, what did the old 3.0 ltr V10's rev too in the end?

Around 19-20k rpm.
And they made around 900 hp.

Fair enuf, I never realised they revved that hard. I thought only the V8's hit those numbers and more.

has anyone tried to do a mock 3D guesstimate design based on photos and put it through some virtual aero testing?

I wasn't planing to go today but I was downtown for work and stopped in for a bit to see the car
I only had my phone and an old camera that I use for work so the pictures aren't that great,
if I go again next week I'll be sure to bring my good camera with me

I almost forgot The cockpit is tiny by the look of it, and on less you and your passenger are jockey size
I can't see getting 2 people in there.

and yes it is preaty wild looking in person, most of the people thought it was just a fake display or a concept and not a real car

Thanks for the pics. How many seats were in it? The steering wheel looks offset.

I do wonder if it would still be so light if it was engineered to deal with 4g of cornering, but it apparently works pretty well on the 900-1000lb Edison 2

Pretty sure the GTR LM Nismo setup isn't germane since it's unpowered and the geometry doesn't fit.

I'm guessing it's more like the Nissan P35 / NPT-93 with the lower A-arms pulled all the way up almost in line with the half shafts:

2 seats in the car, I'm colour blind so if the steering wheel wasn't painted white I would have never seen it 8)
I think the wheel just looks like that because of the shape of the cockpit being so narrow

It look to me like a group C car with a LMP2 front nose section on it, and the rear of the car kind of reminded me of GT40,
with it's clear flowing lines, big rear wheel arches and void of any large wing.
The bottom half of the car is all 80"s F1 and group C nothing but wide open space
