Boycott Chinese F1 GP 2008 because of killing of innocent people of Tibet!

http://www.liveleak.com/view?i=ac8_1205852521

Lets start a petition or some public action among F1 teams, drivers and fans.

Anyone for it?! Spread the word! No F1 in that fascist country!

I wonder if this is why Bernie left the USA? Our govt does the same thing, but they own enough media elite that we never see any of it. Tibet lives under Communism, we live under Corporatism.

I say boycott the USGP!

Good point Manchild, and worth serious consideration.

I'm sorry but what the --- are you talking about? We don't massacre US citizens here, like they are in Tibet. When was the last time you were walikng down the street and you saw someone get sniped by a government official/military for no reason? I would like proof, not just lame opinion.

That's not quite true Ray.

"The Kent State shootings, also known as the May 4 massacre or Kent State massacre, occurred at Kent State University in the city of Kent, Ohio, and involved the shooting of students by members of the Ohio National Guard on Monday, May 4, 1970. FOUR STUDENTS WERE KILLED AND NINE OTHERS WOUNDED, one of whom suffered permanent paralysis."

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kent_State_shootings

"These strikers and their families established a tent colony near the mine, and on April 20, the governor called in the National Guard to disperse them. When the strikers refused to leave, soldiers opened fire on the colony. A number of women and children were killed, some in underground pits where they had sought refuge."

Just before noon, the Guard returned and again ordered the crowd to disperse. When they refused, the Guard used tear gas. Because of wind, the tear gas had little effect in dispersing the crowd, and some began a second rock attack with chants of "Pigs off campus!" The students threw the tear gas canisters back at the National Guardsmen. The only protection the soldiers had were their steel helmets. They had no body armor or face shields, although they had put on gas masks upon first using tear gas.

While I don't advocate the use of deadly force in this situation, the police were attacked first. And I was wrong and I apologize. This kind of violence was unnecessary and it was a dark day in the US. And from my experience with your average college students that I've met, most of them have no clue what's going on in the real world. Only what they see on MTV/BET/CNN/Faux News and the like.

But this is one incident versus the whole history of Chinese wrongdoing on it's own citizens. In that video they were sniping people on a mountainside going the opposite direction from them, not attacking them like at Kent state. Besides, those same war protesters spat on returning military members from Vietnam without provocation. I myself was victim of the same ire when I returned from Iraq walking around the streets of San Diego.

Its alright man. The worst part of the entire China/Tibet situation is that none other than George HW Bush is the person behind the entire Chinese system of Communism and Brutality.

Look no further than the family that is currently in power in the US if you are looking for the prime reason the people in Tibet are suffering today.

Please stick to the topic! If you think that some other GP should be boycotted than start a new topic! What happened in USA 37 years ago or wherever and whenever is irrelevant to current suffering of people of Tibet!

Peaceful, unarmed people of Tibet are being killed as we speak!

F1, teams and drivers were always active in humanitarian actions and I think that it would be the ultimate hypocrisy for them to go and have fun during Chinese GP like nothing is happening! F1 is for civilized countries, not for torturous dictatorships! Erase Chinese GP from 2008 calendar and for the future until they let Tibetans as well as their own non-communist citizens live in freedom!

Olympic games are already to be boycotted and I see no reason why F1 should give alibi to Chinese murderous government!

Do you know what this is? A Chinese execution van that goes from town to town and people are being killed in it!

May I offer my apologies taking the emphasis away from what is central to this thread. The Suppression of Tibet is the focus. A tragedy of over 50 years. First with the invasion and annexation in 1950, the destruction of Tibetan culture and massacres including the frenzy of the so-called Cultural Revolution (1966 to 1976) when over 55,000 monasteries and shrines were destroyed and countless numbers of Tibetans were murdered and imprisoned, the culture decimated, to the slaughter of today. The horrors of the 20th century spill over to the 21st century.

A GP or Olympic boycott wont happen and its unrealistic to expect to for various reasons. Something everyone can do however is hurt them where it counts most. Vote with your wallets, pockets etc, boycott all chinese made goods/products.
Long experience has taught me this about the status of mankind with regards to matters requiring thought. The less people know and understand about them, the more positively they attempt to argue concerning them; while on the other hand, to know and understand a multitude of things renders men cautious in passing judgement upon anything new. - Galileo..

No need to apologize Carlos. I just appeal on everyone not to go off-topic for the sake of those people who rely on reactions of the free world. Influence of F1 world and fans worldwide could be helpful in order to force China to end this terror in Tibet and against their own non-communist citizens. As it is now F1 doesn't belong in such country. Having paddock with fake impression of western-style freedom and human rights while shooting down innocent people miles away in the same country is totally unacceptable.

@manchild: Next time please in Off topic, this has really nothing to do with F1 itself, it's just a political statement following facts that have occurred aside of the sport.

Also, there's more needed that just a boycott of the GP, there are enough chinese to go to the GP anyway. It's the EU and USA that have to deal with it, but as you know, China is not easy to handle as they are basically too big to enforce anything.
