Haha. Fast forward 2 years and see Red Bull challenging for titles with a big red H badge on their car while Mclaren battle Williams for 5th in the constructors. Good luck Zaky, you (they) will need it

RedBull will probably pay Mario a good amount of cash to fix the Honda mess until 2019.

It would be pretty funny to see when STR happens to end the season above McLaren next year

Well i am excited if it does happen...Honda wouldn't mind Versteppens and Ricciardos promoting their brand in the future.

Can someone tell how long Redbull is contracted to Renault?

Conveniently, 2018. If things go right, they could have a Honda engine as soon as 2019.

Thanks. Perfect timing I would say. It's now or never for Honda. If they can't take this opportunity then all this will be for nothing. They have to improve.

Don't think Redbull take outsiders, only academy graduates. As for Alonso, he will probably get 2 or 3 wins at most before retiring. No title.

Not sure how to feel about it.

If Alonso's karma is any indication, it is almost guaranteed the Honda PU will be competitive next year.

RBR really come out ahead either way.

I don't think McLaren will switch to Renault. STR might well be getting Honda engines which will be great for development for Honda, but my gut feeling is that McLaren will stick with Honda due to this boost in development.

I'm perfectly willing to be wrong on this though!

If this swap has gone through, the biggest losers out of it are McLaren.

1) Red Bull now have a works deal the moment the Honda PU gets up to scratch.
2) Renault have got Sainz and Hulkenberg which is a very very good pairing.
3) Honda have the opportunity to work without any pressure and then an equally good team like McLaren to win races with in RBR.

McLaren will now be up against Renault who are a complete woks unit and logic would say that in such an engine dominated formula, they would have their measure. The second team they will be up against have made the best chassis in F1 for the past decade.

so basically Red bull will use Torro Rosso as a testing team for Honda until they are up to speed with the best engine on the grid, then bung it into their Red bull in 2019 and win all WC's till 2021, whilst laughing heartily at Mclaren, as they continue to use an inferior Renault engine? which has proven to be lacklustre and not much better than Honda.

just makes no sense, at all. Or the honda engine really was So bad that it was costing Mclaren literally seconds of performance per lap.

Once you are in deep --- maclaren must save what is possible. Becoming champions at the moment is not possible anymore up to 2021. Thos change is logical. Good conclusion for anybody

I think Mclaren will be VIP costemer instead of Redbull For Renault.
Renault have more ability make powerfull engine than Honda.
Already 2017 Renault engine have more potential and They have been working 2018 engine since 2017 February.
I think Mclaren have both motor data including actual and future
