Fernando Alonso has won the first ever Singapore Grand Prix and the first ever race held under floodlights. But not only Fernando Alonso can be declared winner of the day as Lewis Hamilton an McLaren do good business in the championship standings.

As Felipe Massa and Kimi Raikkonen were unable to score points at the all-new Marina Bay street circuit, it is McLaren who takes the lead in the Constructors' Championship. McLaren now leads Ferrari with 1 point.

In the Drivers' Championship, Lewis Hamilton has done good business as well. The Briton has now seven points more than Felipe Massa and this with only 3 races left to go.

Fernando Alonso, the big winner of the day, scored his first podium of the season and could immediately climb on the highest scaffold after an amazing drive. The Spaniard started the race from 15th position after suffering a fuel pump problem during qualifying yesterday. With an aggressive strategy, Alonso was the first to go into the pits, 3 laps before the safety car came out. This is where Renault won the race.

The Enstone-based team seems to be heading straight to their goal of finishing 4th in the standings. After the Singapore Grand Prix, Renault is 4th with 5 points more than closest rival Toyota.
