Klien excited on task to develop the car

Test and reserve driver Christian Klien is already looking forward to testing with the BMW Sauber F1 Team this winter. "The task of developing the car has never been as exciting as now," says the Austrian.

While the 2008 Formula One season is drawing to a close, the excitement level is increasing for Christian: after the season finale in Brazil, the first test drives for 2009 will be just around the corner. Christian will play a major role for the BMW Sauber F1 Team during this important phase.

"I enjoy the fact that I get to do lots of driving. The regulations allow the teams to test with two cars again during the winter, which means I will get plenty of kilometres under my belt again," says Christian.

Christian has an exciting task ahead of him, especially considering the many rule changes coming into force next season: "The completely new technology regulations for 2009 mean that we test drivers will be able to contribute more significantly to the team's success than we have done lately. Formula One will change considerably due to slicks, KERS and efficient aerodynamics. Each element is another unknown, which will impact greatly on the sport. The task of developing the car has never been as exciting as now."

Klien is delighted to be part of the BMW Sauber F1 Team again in 2009: "The driving trio of Robert Kubica, Nick Heidfeld and myself remains unchanged. It goes without saying that I am pleased that the team is happy with the work I've done. In Formula One there are only three or four cars capable of winning races without outside assistance. I will get to test drive one of these over many kilometres, and will be ready for action at any time, should I be needed for a race. I believe I'm in the right place with the right people."
