Teams agree to tighten up in-season testing loopholes

Following the British GP, the Formula One teams have agree to tighten up the rules regarding the car specifications when used for demonstration/promotional purposes. The change comes after a few teams used updated [never raced before] parts during promotional filming runs, which didn't go so well competitors as it exploited the exceptions to in-season testing ban.

As FOTA Chairman, McLaren's Martin Whitmarsh commented, "I personally did not feel there was any ambiguity, but others argued that there was. But that is pressure, and when people are under pressure they try and take a different view.

"It is now clear that, if you are doing a demo run, then you must use components that have been raced before - and it has to be a legitimate demo run."
