World Series - Formula Renault 2.0

By on

The second season of the World Series by Renault are kicking off at 29 April at the Circuit of Zolder in Belgium. The series is a mix of top class motorsport and fun activities aimed at all the family. One of the Championships presented at the World Series by Renault is the Formula Renault 2.0 Eurocup.

The Eurocup is open to a maximum of 36 drivers who do not figure in the FIA 2006 rankings, who have not been ranked in an international F3000, GP2 or World Series FR 3.5 championship, who have not finished in the top three of an F3, Eurocup FR V6, World Series by Nissan championship and/or who have not won the FR2000 Masters in 2003 or the Eurocup FR 2.0 in 2004 and 2005.

Drivers may take part in only one national Formula Renault 2.0 championship and they must give priority to the Eurocup if there is a clash of dates.

A team may not enter more than three cars.

Qualifying

There is a singe, 40-minute qualifying session for each race meeting. Each driver is limited to a maximum of 8 laps. This result of this session determines the start grid for race one.

Any driver whose best time is greater than 110% of the pole position time shall fail to qualify.

The start grid for race two shall be decided on the basis of the fastest race laps in race one for classified drivers (those who completed 90% of the laps completed by the winner). Those drivers who were not classified in race one shall be allocated start grid positions based on the total number of laps they completed.

Race

Each meeting consists of two races of twenty five minutes plus one lap.
