Gearbox problem for Klien as Red Bull wraps up testweek

It's time for the Autumn Collections to hit the shops of fashionable Milano right now, but just down the road in Monza, our test team has been shopping for tenths and hundredths of a second in preparation for the Italian Grand Prix which takes place at this track on 10 September. We had a two day session with both race drivers present on both days in what was the penultimate major test of the season.

The main item on the agenda was tyre choice for the race, which was a complex task as, since the team was last here in June, many sections of the track have been resurfaced. The drivers ran different tyre programmes; one working on compounds, the other on construction. The unique high speed nature of the track means that an equally unique low downforce package was also tested.

"Generally, the test went well with David getting through his full programme on the first day, when Christian lost a bit of time going off the track and with a gearbox problem," said Chief Test Engineer, Ian Morgan. "Today, Christian was again slightly delayed, this time by a brake problem in the morning and he also had a very minor "off" right at the end of the day. The engine ran faultlessly throughout and we are happy with the tyre choices we have made for next weekend."
