I am looking to repeat 2006 performance - Kubica

This weekend, Robert Kubica will contest his first Formula One race at the "Circuit Gilles Villeneuve". Last year, he was able to impress by setting the fastest laps in the Friday free practice sessions. Now, the Polish driver is aiming to repeat this success.

"It means driving with lower downforce for the first time this season," says Kubica. "Last year on the Friday I was quite good here. I am looking to repeat that performance and I think our car can perform very well here because of the downforce configuration."

Robert regards the "Circuit Gilles Villeneuve", on which the Canadian Grand Prix is held for the 29th time, as one of his favourite race tracks. "I like the track because it is a street circuit," Robert reveals. "It has very little grip to start with but that improves throughout the weekend."

One factor of uncertainty that Robert still has to come to terms with is the switch to Bridgestone tyres. Last year, Robert was only able to gather experience with the Michelin tyres. "I will see how big an influence it is for me to change to the different tyres," he says. "Montreal was the track where my driving style gave me an advantage. As I am not now driving in the same style I have to see how it will be this year."
