It was a great, thrilling season - Theissen

Thrilling right up to the very last round of the season and points scored in every Grand Prix: for BMW Motorsport Director Mario Theissen it will be difficult to outdo the 2007 Formula One World Championship season.

In 2007, the BMW Sauber F1 Team experienced a season that proved to be successful in every respect. The team scored more than twice as many points than in 2006, and both its drivers, Nick Heidfeld and Robert Kubica, celebrated their most successful seasons at the pinnacle of motor racing.

From Mario Theissen's point of view, the season was also virtually second to none in terms of excitement. "Excitement-wise it will be difficult to top this season," he says. "It was a great season, thrilling to the very last round - and spiced up by numerous unexpected incidents. For the first time since 1986, heading into the final round of a season, three drivers still had the chance of securing the title."

Then, the BMW Sauber F1 Team also wants to be a factor in the battle for race wins. "I hope that we will have more than just one race win under our belt when the 2008 season is over," says Theissen. "However, we know that it will be difficult to achieve this goal as both McLaren-Mercedes and Ferrari have been racing at the very top for many years and have a clear experience advantage. Consequently, beating these two teams will be a hard nut to crack."
