According to the Spanish newspaper 'Marca', the Renault F1 Team is finalising their contract offer to Fernando Alonso. According to a source of the newspaper, Flavio Briatore and the lawyers of the French team are completing the final details of the proposition. There would be a contract of minimum 2 years waiting for the Spaniard.

If Alonso decides to return to the team with who he has won his Championship titles, the team promises him a competitive car. After a bad 2007 season, Renault seems set to be among the front runners again in 2008.

Flavio Briatore, Renault's Team Boss, said: "To have a bad year does not mean anything. It happened to Ferrari in 2005 and like us they centered the car of the following year. The result was that in 2006 they were very competitive, as Renault is going to be in 2008."
