Schumacher fastest on Ferrari return
Michael Schumacher has topped the timesheets in the first day of wintertesting at Barcelona. The 7 times world champion proved he had lost none of his speed in over one year of not having driven a Formula One car.
The German immediately felt home again in his Ferrari cockpit and set quickest times all through the day and completed 64 laps over the day. His fellow Ferrari test driver Luca Badoer was second fastest and circled around 76 times.
The test also marked the debut of several drivers. Amongst these rookies is Zuber in a Honda. He was 14th fastest, just ahead of 3 times CART champion Sebastien Bourdais. Chandhok was allowed to test for Red Bull Racing while Force India ran Van Der Garde and Rodriguez. Although both completed a similar amount of laps, the latter was more than a full second slower than the Dutchman.
