Alonso trying to put pressure on Renault and Red Bull?

By on

It's almost December and double World Champion Fernando Alonso still hasn't found a new team. Alonso wants a one-year-contract but all the teams he has been negotiating with, insist on a minimum of two years.

Renault seems to have the best cards to take Alonso in, but we still can't exclude Red Bull although the team has declared that they will not harbour the Spaniard in 2008. Yesterday it leaked out that Alonso had a seat fitting at Honda's Brackley-based factory. Honda denied everything, but in this silly season it seems that you can't rely on anything.

Honda announced their driver line-up for 2008 in July, but this doesn't mean that this can't be fixed. According to other reports, Barrichello and Brawn would have visited the Leafield factory of Super Aguri. This could mean that Barrichello will fill the empty seat beside Takuma Sato.

Ross Brawn, who recently joined Honda, is a big fan of Fernando Alonso and seems keen to sign the driver for 2008. The duo could bring Honda back to the front runners of the pack after a disaster year.

But we also have to keep in mind that other sources reveal that Alonso is negotiating with Honda to put pressure on Renault and Red Bull. According to these sources, it is a possibility that Alonso will have a test with Honda next week at Jerez to put pressure on the two teams.

One thing is for sure, in this silly season there are a lot of rumours and reports but what can we believe? We'll only know for sure when Alonso finally puts his autograph on a contract.
