We don't know the car well enough yet - Heidfeld

By on

Nick Heidfeld and Robert Kubica have already completed many kilometres in the BMW Sauber F1.08 during the initial testing phase for the 2008 Formula One season. The German and his Polish team-mate are already familiar with the properties of the new car.

Following the test programme in Valencia and Jerez, Robert already feels at home in the F1.08. The much-discussed omission of several electronic aid systems poses no problems for him: "The new car is considerably more stable when braking, even without traction control", said Kubica. "I can already focus much earlier on exiting the corner and the point I am aiming at, rather than having to consider where I will end up if the rear end becomes unstable when braking."

"We can steer the car much more accurately now", added Nick. However, the 30-year-old is reluctant to make comparisons with the performances of other teams. "It is still too early to be able to say where we stand", said Heidfeld. "We don't know the car well enough yet. There is still so much to do before season starts in Melbourne, so it is impossible to make any predictions."
