Rumour: Alonso signs contract with Ferrari for 2010

By on

Rumours in the paddock say that double World Champion Fernando Alonso has signed a contract with the Scuderia Ferrari for the 2010 season. Alonso has been linked with several teams, but the Ferrari rumours have always been the strongest.

After winning the title with Renault in 2005 and 2006, Alonso tried his luck with the McLaren Mercedes Team finishing the season with 1 point less than World Champion Kimi Raikkonen. Still Alonso wasn't happy with the silver team and decided to look for a new team. After a year of absence, the lost son returned to Renault.

This season, the French outfit has problems supplying a competitive car. At the moment, Alonso scored only 9 points while rookie team mate Piquet still has to score his first championship point. ING, title sponsor of the team, wants to see results or they will definitely leave the team.

That it is already rumoured that Fernando Alonso has signed a Ferrari deal for 2010 can be seen a strange and premature, but don't forget that the Raikkonen-deal for 2007 was signed already in 2005.
