Mercedes AMG F1 W05

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

but looking at it i wonder why it took them so long to get it passed the crash test
to get it higher, it must have had to be made shorter as well, that means less material and time for energy dissipation, just my thought

The nose visible in these pics are actually the homoligated "crash structure"

Winning is the most important. Everything is consequence of that. Being second is to be the first of the ones who lose.-Ayrton Senna

maybe the pylons that are holding the wing were problematic

It's your mind playing tricks on you It's just the angle of the photo... ;) It looks beautiful, it might look a bit odd though once we see the car on track with the nose sitting so far behind the front of the car.

You mean to say both the nose are same height?it is only that they have moved the pylon to the front and in the process moved the nose back?

Yep i think it's the same Height as the Old one too. It's just even farther Back to interfere with the Front Wing even less.

As it is introduced in China, i`d like to call the shortened version the nose the "pekinese nose".

Revised endplate. One slot instead of two and the single slot is different from the one it replaces.
