Mc Laren MP4/24 aero-mech development in 2009

Here are our CFD links and discussions about aerodynamics, suspension, driver safety and tyres. Please stick to F1 on this forum.

As our Moderator, Ciro, has attempted to point out, this thread is not for discussing anything but the technical development of the car.

Please listen, and let this post be a line in the sand, thanks.

Pu-leez. I have had two reports about this thread already. No more speculations, they will be moved or erased. Please, use the NEW THREAD button if you have the urge to explain why something else happened.

looking at the bottom pic of the front brake assembly it seems there is a secodary air intake feeding air to the brake caliper... I haven't noticed any discussion of this in this, or other threads, (but accept I m ight have missed it!)... is this unique to Macca??

Also... there are a lot of sensors feeding through hthe upper wishbone - anyone care to speculate on what these are measuring... Temperature is a obvious candidate, wear of the disc/calipers another... but there seem to be planty of sensors there...

I'm also curious as to what all the sensors are.

I’ve never noticed the adjustable Ackerman before, neat.

Oh yes, there's the big air scoop and below there is a little pencil thin periscope of an air duct. I wonnder what that is for.

This wing-like element with the horizontal hole helps to cool the brake calliper itself .It has been already illustrated in page 2 at the current thread ( viewtopic.php?f=6&t=6599&start=15 ) . Toyota uses a similar concept reverted -L shaped winglet in the TF109 .

The idea is not new as Ferrari first introduced an additional brake cooling winglet-style element back in 2005

There would also be an receiver for a "pickup" of the internal tire air pressure located in this area, as it's transmitted by wireless through the wheel... the "accurate" range for the receiver is 2 feet unless that has been improved in recent years and can be put on the chassis, some 3.5 feet away.

I too would like to thank BAR555 for the great posts this year hopefully you will do the same next year.... great job!!

The 2009 season is not yet over for me . I will continue working on the M4/24 technical evolution , enriching further this thead ( and similar threads as well ) .

As regards the 2010 season , i can not tell for sure whether i will do analogous topics or not .

The brake rotor adapter plate is a slightly different design (thicker) and has 10 nuts instead of 6. Possibly higher braking loads in Japan?

Undergone changes from Japan
1.A modified front wing was tested but not finally used for race
2.Revised rear wing
3.Symmetricity to exhaust outlets was the choice for this race
