I've been trying to get good pics for awhile of this, but yes the nose cone logo really isn't a sticker. Mercedes, eh?

King Six -> The logo is painted on, it's just a 3D illusion (again!!! after all the asymmetry stuff!). It's hard to notice at first, but the light always seem to shine from the same angle on the logo (top left when you look straight at the nose of the car), as opposed to the light on the nosecone. Merc has a hell of an airbrush artist on their team!

Macxtor -> Mercedes are starting to experiment with the bending wing, and the one they used in Australia was bending to some extent (although nowhere close to the amount on the Red Bull or the McLaren).

Although the rules are not enforced at the moment due to an inadequate FIA test, the Red Bull and McLaren wings are illegal. Mercedes might not be willing to put a lot of money and work hours developing something that might be useless in a couple of races if the FIA updates their test.

Ross Brawn should be familiar with the concept of flexing bodywork, since it was his technical team that introduced it back when he was technical director at Ferrari. They had bending fins on the engine cover which flattened out at high speed to reduce drag, and then used something similar on their rear wing. But it seems the FIA reacted much more quickly back then to ban the technology.

I don't think so. In this picture the reflection of the fluorescent lights would go straight over an airbrushed logo.

Depends on the varnish you use and its reflection / refraction angle.

Look at the Syntium logo just above, it also doesn't reflect the neon lights, and nobody thinks it's 3D.

It is a real piece. Wether it´s metal or simply a thick sticker i can´t tell but it´s not an airbrush. The shadows are airbrushed anyway.

It's obviously designed as an aerodynamic benefit to create two counter-rotating vortices along the edges of the nose, similar to side skirts to trap that air and redirect it more efficiently along a lower-drag path.

thats the new tachyon flux generator and it works n conjunction with the KERS.
Its this device that overloaded the KERS.

Not the first time I've been accused of VERY dry humor (to the point no one knows if I'm serious or not)...

I'm sure it isn't a sticker, even at one of the races recently the camera angle showed it to be embossed/sticking out abit. Even that first picture I posted, follow the contours and you can see it's sticking out. :S

I still think it's not a sticker but an actual thing on the car!

I don't know about you; but I HAVE seen in the past such "thick" stickers that look like that. Not saying this is one though.

You could be right. I too thought it was just a sticker or an airbrush until very recently when I saw a pic of the Ferrari logo in the nosecone. I realized the Fezza one is not a sticker, you can clearly see its embedded into the nose cone somehow. (Is this the right word? What I mean is that you can see there is a little cavity where the logo sits. It is very apparent in the edges of the red paint.) That picture made me wonder again about the Merc one...

Am still undecided...

Its a real logo people, a black version is airbrushed underneath it and then the actual emblem is put on top. The car really is beautiful though.

You would think the pictures with lines showing the logo sticking out or the redflections would be enough.. Guess not.
