I was just trying to save the team - Briatore

One day after the official statement of the Renault F1 Team that both Flavio Briatore and Pat Symonds have left the team in the light of the race fixing allegations at the 2008 Singapore GP, the former team boss denies the reports that he was dismissed by the team. Briatore said to British newspaper 'The Mirror' that he made the decision to leave the French outfit in order to "save the team".

Briatore said: "I was just trying to save the team. It's my duty. That's the reason I've finished."
