Circuit organisers have implemented some changes at Spa-Francorchamps, in light of the upcoming Belgian Grand Prix this weekend. Just like at many other circuits, grass and gravel again had to make way for tarmac.

First the artificial grass on the exit of turn 1, La Source, has been widened and extended to the end of the run-off area.

Most modifications though are at Les Combes, the corner complex after the long top straight. To reduce corner cutting there, the inside of the first part of Les Combes now has an asphalt surface and three bumps, similar to those in Barcelona, Valencia, Monza, replacing most of the grass that was there until last year. A two metre wide strip of artificial grass has been laid behind the apex kerb at turn 6.

Additionally, the kerb on the exit of turn 6 has been replaced by a 50mm negative kerb and artificial grass has been laid behind it.

Finally, the gravel behind the kerb on the exit of turn 6 has been replaced by asphalt.
