Just like in real life - Kubica

By on

Just over twelve months ago Robert Kubica entered the first Formula One race of his career at the Hungarian GP on the Hungaroring. The BMW Sauber F1 Team driver looks back on his first year in the pinnacle of motorsports.

Robert finished the first Formula One race of his career in seventh place before he was later disqualified. However, many Formula One experts and fans were more than impressed with Robert's debut performance. This year, the times have changed: Since Robert has been able to establish himself in Formula One racing in the meantime, the fifth place of the Polish driver surprised nobody.

One of the biggest moments in Robert's young career so far was the podium finish at the 2006 Italian GP. The negative highlight was his terrible accident at this year's Canadian Grand Prix in Montreal, when he smashed into a wall nearly at full speed, but luckily only sustained minor injury. According to Robert, moments such as this are a part of everyday life as a racing driver.

"Of course, there were good moments and bad moments - just like in real life," Kubica comments on the past twelve months. "All drivers had good memories and bad feelings. But we are concentrating on the future. At every Grand Prix, every day you have a new experience, which you have to use in the future."
