No new parts for Shanghai as we're concentrating on the new car - Heidfeld

By on

Since the beginning of the week Nick Heidfeld has been in Shanghai with his family in order to prepare for the second to last race of the season. The BMW Sauber F1 Team driver speaks about his activities in China so far and hopes to achieve a good result in the Far East.

"We only arrived late Monday evening and I already had to attend PR meetings on Wednesday. In other words, we only had the Tuesday to ourselves. We didn't have that much time so we just went to town. Unfortunately, we didn't have enough time to do much else," says Nick Heidfeld.

Further excursions to the surroundings of Shanghai were not on Nick's schedule. Therefore, the German driver is hesitant in his assessment of the country with the largest population on the planet: "I only know Shanghai. I haven't seen much of China yet. The city of Shanghai is extraordinary: it's booming and it changes every single year. It is a very pulsating place. However, I can't tell you much about the rest of the country."

Speaking about his prospects for the race on Sunday, on the other hand, Nick knows exactly what he expects and conveys that the team is already well in the planning stages for next season: "I hope we can be the third force once more," he comments. "For the first time in a while, we haven't any new parts on the car, which proves that we are concentrating on the new car already."
