Ferrari copy Toyota front wing on F2008

By on

Ferrari have shown with their F2008 that copying isn't something to be ashamed of. The new Ferrari front wing is very similar to the one that Toyota introduced mid-season in 2007. At that time is was a competely new concept to extend the nose cone to the upper front wing elements. Apparently they have made quite some impression at Maranello. Aerodynamically the implementation is similar to the thickening of the suspension arms at the chassis connection points. Having a smooth transition between the elements can reduce the all important induced drag.

Something dodgy about this fornt wing:

1) Toyota and somehow McLaren look-a-like concept front wing. McLaren\'s lower position of it\'s nose resulted overhead bridge. I think Ferrari raised the nose a bit higher for the similar design thus similar result.

2) The \"arrow shown in the picture\" has the similar function as the 2 knives on the middle of the nose.

3) The centre portion (mini-air intake, arrow & two black mysterious spots) of the front wing focus the air-flow underneath the front wing, it might improve the air-flow quality beneath the car. Costa mentioned that Ferrari shall improved their weaknesses (on low downforce circuits), this maybe the solution.

Idea is same but it looks different as it come out of nose cone ...IMO.
