South African, Peter de Klerk is a privateer with a difference. He appears here by virtue of the fact that his first two Grands Prix were fought in a heavily modified Alfa Romeo. That effectively makes him a constructor.

The former Lotus mechanic used an old Alfa 4 cylinder engine and mated it to a home built chassis. He only entered it for local races, where the car performed well against more contemporary cars during the 1.5 litre formula.
