Hamilton stays ahead in second Bahrain practice
After going faster than anybody else earlier today in FP1, Lewis Hamilton continued to set the pace, once again going several tenths faster than his team mate. Fernando Alonso was once more the closest competitor, albeit more than a second off of Hamilton's pace.
Both Mercedes drivers continued to have trouble free runs, easily outpacing the competition. Rosberg was the first to go on to the soft tyre, lapping around 2 seconds quicker than on the harder Pirelli compound. Lewis Hamilton soon followed suit and immediately set the fastest time of the day, nearly 4 tenths quicker than his German team mate.
Technical issues were present at Lotus, where Maldonado had a misfiring Renault engine that cut his running short. Max Chilton had a bit of a moment in turn 4 as he spun off the track following a rear axle locking. Adrian Sutil ended up aside of the track in a slightly more controlled way, parking his Sauber. Marcus Ericsson did the same with his Caterham with just 5 minutes left on the clock.
