After adding to its official merchandise store and making its pre-order available, the Renault F1 Team has now started to sell its own branded face masks.

Teams have been busy in recent weeks with preparing themselves for the delayed start of the 2020 F1 season. Following the cancelled Australian Grand Prix, the championship is set to get underway in Austria on July 5. However, participants will face a new reality as the sport is set to introduce a strict procedure aimed at containing the spread of the novel coronavirus.

Among others, team members and drivers will be required to wear face masks and other personal protection equipments. Renault have become the first F1 team to enable fans to purchase branded face masks.

The Enstone-based team has made two types of masks available. The Renault DP World F1 Team mask is predominantly black with a wide yellow strip in the middle of it. The other version, the Renault Group Fabric Mask is a black with elegant pattern on one half of the mask while the other half of it incororates the ’Renault Group’ lettering.

A piece of both versions costs €4.99, the week pack of five pieces comes in at €24.95 while the family pack of ten pieces can be purchased at €49.99.

These masks meet the latest AFNOR/Apave specifications and the team reported that the protection efficiency against the virus is over 90 per cent.

Both types are washable, meaning that they are reusable. It has also been indicated that the masks should be washed for 30 minutes at 60°C. It is recommended to use the masks for a maximum duration of four hours before washing.

Renault stressed that it does not intend to make any profit from the masks, but the income is going to be donated to associations.
