Productive third day for Renault

The ING Renault F1 Team made the most of the first day of fully-dry weather this week to complete a busy day of testing in Valencia, Spain. Giancarlo Fisichella and Heikki Kovalainen got down to work immediately this morning, focusing primarily on reliability testing of the new R27.

The goal for both R27 chassis was to complete a full race distance, and for the drivers to practice techniques such as full pit-stops, startline procedures and race starts during the session.

The day proved extremely productive, with over 230 laps completed in total, and a promising level of performance from both cars. The team collected a large amount of useful data, and completed its entire programme in the allotted time. They hope to continue in the same vein tomorrow, as the test has been extended by a day owing to the poor weather earlier in the week.

Giancarlo Fisichella: “We had good track conditions for the first time this week, and we made good progress with the programme. That’s a satisfying result, and I think we are pretty pleased with the information we have collected today.”

Heikki Kovalainen: “This was a good day for the team, and we found some good directions that we can hone at the next tests. We still have another day of running to complete, and I hope it will be productive as this one was.”
