Effect of track temperature on tyre degradation

Post

Hello All,

Can you guys help me understand the effect of track temperature on tyre degradation? is it significant to affect the lap times? or please suggest a thread which has already discussed this topic.
Is there any source where I can get track temperature data for the whole race?

Thanks,

Track temperature does have an effect on tyre deg, but there's a bigger issue that would cause too much noise in your data.

The main thing that track temperature does is shifts the amount of heat that the car needs to put into the tyre. Warmer track, less heat needed from the car. Cars that naturally over-heat their tyres will then end up in a situation where they need to go much more carefully in order not to generate too much heat. Similarly, too cool a track, means more heat needed from the car working the tyres, and a car that naturally under-heats their tyres will begin to struggle for grip, and suffer lap time drop off.
