DAS banned for 2021. Didn’t the 2021 regs pretty much state that anyway?
Why they don't ban it this year too. If someone try to built same system on their car when they can not use it next year is a kind of waste
Because it has been "banned" from the moment the 2021 regulations came out. F1 makes it seem like they saw it yesterday and immediately decided to ban it for next year which isn't the case, the 2021 regulations always had these kind of tricks outlawed from the start.

gg, pack it up bois.
Wouldn't read too much into it, that's slower pace than Verstappen managed in the race last year, and this car is both faster and conditions are better.
I noticed that too. But also hamilton did 69 laps instead of 66. I just hope you're right and RB is hiding pace because this race sim looks depressing.
Comparison of Max's Race Sim and last year's Race timing. First stint is something to notice. Last year in race, he started with C3, but here he starts with C2 and yet does slightly faster times.

Another thing to remember is, last year in Winter Testing the weather was way too cold and almost everyone was facing cold graining and there was big drop in times in first stints, especially on softer compounds. In race though, almost every car was faster than it was in testing.

One way to hide your pace, even on race sims, is to top up the fuel tank between stints. You can easily add .7 to your pace by carrying an extra stint's worth of fuel. The pace difference between a full and empty tank is worth ~3 seconds around here. If you don't see that kind of pace drop off, then they're either driving to a delta or carrying extra fuel.
Did the car go back in the garage each time or did they change the tyres in the pit lane ?

You are right if the car went in to the garage, so instead of the gap being around 0.7 , it could be more like 1.7 ? as adding fuel to the Merc would hide its true pace

The FIA's 2021 ban on DAS is worded so specifically and carefully that it couldn't possibly have been drawn up quickly. It demonstrates that they were aware of Mercedes development path for a long time, knew there was no rule to stop it for the 2020 season and would prefer that teams didn't spend millions trying to develop it for 2021.

The other teams will probably want to protest the system in Australia and may well convince the stewards there that is illegal. It could well be banned for that race, appealed, used for 2 or 3 races then banned or then forgotten about... The FIA could well ban it on safety grounds after 2 or 3 races as has happened so often with these kinds of innovations...

Bottas 3.0 is looking on fire thus far, Lewis way off the pace and can't even match his C3 time.
You looking for the timing chart? 😁

Seriously though expected more on that run, he didn't look comfortable from the onboard.

It looks as though they are mirroring Bottas' programme.

What is Ferrari up to? Not a single race sim done, repeatedly sitting in the garage and then going out for 5 laps

This guy only pops up when Bottas has a good session and hides when Bottas is losing day in day out, race after race and championship after championship.
