Red Bull RB21

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

Very hard to see, but it seems that the nosebox is narrower.
Most noticeable near the drivers' numbers.

Could higher ride heights cost qualifying performance? Red Bull seemed to be running a bit higher in Spain. Perhaps there's a connection between the improved balance (operating the new floor in a less sensitive window) at the expense of outright downforce and qualy pace at lower ride heights.

It doesn't turn.

Anyone knows anything about the reason Red Bull used pre-Miami floor in Barcelona?

Image
Which pre-miami floor? There were 2. 3 floor specs in total. Bahrain launch, Bahrain Friday, and Miami.

Bahrain Friday floor: AUS, CHI, JAP, BAH
Bahrain launch floor: SAU
Miami floor: MIA, ITA, MON

Is this picture from the race? There was no indication of a problem with the floor in Imola. Perhaps they were experimenting in Spain.

The only indication I have is diffuser keel shape, in Miami they returned to hybrid-kick shape we saw first in testing. This photo is from practice (I think) and is the best view, but I've looked at race photos and is the same pre-miami diffuser keel

Max or Yuki’s car?

We do know that they were short of the newly updated parts due to Yuki’s crash so had to go back to older revisions.

Judging by the tyre pickup, looks to have just exited pit box and leaving pit lane, where the view in Barcelona doesn't (from cursory recall) have spectators oriented in that position for distant background.

It LOOKS like another track from that. Can the exit louvres on PU cover help to establish running status in their layout ?

Ffs I'm not an idiot to search photos from a different race. You can see it's this weekend by rear and beam wing speca used

Both had pre-miami floor spec

I was going to say the same thing was it Yuki's car.

But certainly had not heard anyone mention the old floor being used up until you mentioned it so wouldn't be sur eof the reasons. Certainly that I am aware not something that has been really openly discussed.

So they changed diffuser keel and bolted the part onto new floor it would seem, since this is definitely the new floor with different VGs on floor edge

Yuki had the old floor indeed, but had the simple triangular diffuser keel just like Max, I suspect they really can bolt that additional part on and change the rear floor geometry
