Given that the cold blowing used by Renault to help cool the engine has been banned, I wonder if the radiator cooling is going to have to be increased which could lead to further packaging issues.

Forgive my ignorance, which rule in the 2012 regulations specifically prohibits the Cold blowing?
I recently looked over them and couldnt find it.

To my knowledge the throttle position has to intrinsically reflect the accelerator position (no throttle maps that allowed Hot blowing), and the new exhaust positioning, was to eliminate most cases of exhaust blowing benefit.

Are these the only new governing regulations on the exhaust systems?

I remember they tried to ban the blowing as well during the off season and McLaren and RB got annoyed. I don't know if they revoked the ban though.

There is no ban on the exhaust overrunning - which is altogether different from just using fuel to cool the engine. I think what has changed is that over a certain rpm only the driver's right foot controls the throttle.

That's not an RB8 as the shark fin isn't allowed to join up with the rear wing (looks like an early pre-f-duct RB6).

RB8 launch is on the 6th of February.

I'm going to go out on a limb and guess that the RB8 will have much tighter side pods and an mp4-26 style snorkel cooling duct to augment the cooling. The reason why I make this speculation is that I believe the snorkel cooling duct will integrate very well with the RB7 style hot air outlet, which I expect RB8 to carry over. All this tightening of side pods making for an even more effective diffuser.......just my guess

Edit: I will even say that, looking at the frontal view of the car, the side pods will slop down quite drastically towards the outside margins of the car...opposite of the mp4-27
