Renault Sport F1 R.S.17

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

Shark fins make the cars look faster on top of performance/stability benefits. If you embrace them they look amazing like Renault have done but if you paint them black it makes your car look odd overall.

Really don't understand the objection to shark fins - can't remember any objection in 2008 (did people even dislike the 2010 f ducts on aesthetic grounds? I certainly couldn't have cared less).

Does seem to be a trend to follow the Mercedes/Toro Rosso lead of increasing airbox to help reduce sidepods.

I don't think the intake area is bigger - its just oval shaped and higher up to limit interference with the lower rear wing... very smart

This is first impressive car for 2017! and good looking too. Very narrow backside and aggressive concept. Very slim also the front where wheels are attached

They've moved away from their single wastegate pipe to a mickeymouse style one. I suspect that no one else will go back to a single wastegate pipe.
