Renault Sport F1 R.S. 18

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

The Manor Racing windtunnel model had it too.

Via AMuS
so they've tested modified exhaust (not pointing upwards)
It's been a long time since we drove last time, but it has also been a short time at the same time
Roam Grosjean ponders the passing of time on the first day of testing at Jerez

That exhaust looks the same to me. It's not angled much up at all. It probably sits at the max angle the regulations allow.

Is that an air filter for the compressors air or a radiator? (lower intake)
https://imgr2.auto-motor-und-sport.de/N ... 151752.jpg
fairly certain that's a radiator, the hole is visible in the airbox itself, the open area is uncharacteristic of an airbox.
My assumption about the lack of high-central radiators generally was that they were a risk to the driver. Hot coolant right behind the drivers neck. If ruptured, it could be exposed to the driver. Usually central radiators are a bit lower and farther back than in this Renault installation.

Thanks for the interesting answers.
Yes this new wing is very redbullish with those endplates and the raised winglets around the 'Y250' area.
But this team is one of the first to raise those edges like that AFAIR, it was in 2010
