Red Bull RB16B

Re: Red Bull RB16B

So many days after lunch and throughout the testing, and yet no one noticed how RB quietly gone back to almost 2019 level of reduced outboard wash profile of the front wing. They again rely on downforce that is generated by the wing, not just to directing air around front wheels.
Not sure how to post pics here, it would be great if someone could insert the Abu Dhabi RB16 and an RB16b here.

Well, harder tires may require a little more downforce....

There is so little difference between those wings, it almost looks like a settings change instead of a new wing...

Lots of little details are different.

Second element from the top is thicker on the 2021 wing, third element is thinner on 2021, and an extra support on the 4th.

Under wing strakes are different, and so is the end plate. This is aside from the added gurney and extra support to the inner part of the wing.

They also ran two diffusers in testing. V2 looks like it is more developed than V.

There's an interesting discussion on Reddit regarding Anti-Ackerman front steering on the car thanks to u/thejage. I don't know much about this topic but I found it interesting none the less

I'd say it's some weird perspective thing. Check some onboards, from there it always looks to be anti-ackermann.

I guess anti-ackerman is actually normal in F1. Apparently the topic was discussed on this forum back in 2010! I just never realized I guess. The more you know

Not sure how accurate that is becsuse they did indeed have a rear multi-link suspension from last year already.

I think it is accurate. count the number of black and white dots on the bottom. 1 more as last year and if you follow the hardware as shown on the drawings seems to be correct, but indeed, hard to say for sure.

But it could be that they had multi link already, and just changed the set-up. Perhaps even to "back" as before as AT is skipping the 2020 RB rear suspension and is holding on to the 2019.

By the way, mercedes does not have a pull rod to the front, they have them all going directly to the gearbox casing. Is that more advanced or simply a consequence of having lower rake? Or some other reason, rootcause still.
