Wheel rim shields do have a beneficial aero effect but might have a bad side-effect also , as it was proven during Malaysian GP ( Hamilton especially) . They keep the ripped brake disc carbon dust inside the rim , and that might was the problem which caused Hamilton a longgggggggggggg 1st pit stop and a spinning right shield
