Team principal Laurent Mekies already said after the previous race in Barcelona (fourth place for Verstappen) that the updates should ensure Red Bull gets closer to the top teams, although he added that more steps are needed to truly compete with Mercedes, for example.

This part reduces the hype quite a bit, now it's more of a wait and see.

It's Mekies, he always plays it safe regardless what the expectations are.

Yeah, probably in anticipation of MCL and Mercedes bringing updates in the upcoming rounds too. The top 4 are not really in sync with their big updates, Ferrari esp. with the quick updates. The delta to the best is shifting constantly, although I'm a bit surprised at how much lap time these teams are finding with the updates, feels like they are progressing faster than in 22 regs, expected less with the simplified floors.

It is much easier to copy good aero ideas in these regs. Allison said they are developing with 0.2s per month.

Everything being visible helps, in the last regs you had to wait until a driver crashed to get a good look at the floor. 0.2s over 9 months would net you a staggering 1.8s improvement lol.

Regarding ADUO I wonder how Horner would have delt with FiA

"Also, after already introducing a substantial update package in Miami, insiders reveal the Austria package is expected to be even more significant."

If the Miami upgrade worth like 0.8 seconds, then this even more significant upgrade could worth even more. It's likely not just weight reduction but also a completely new aero package, otherwise it wouldn't be more significant than the Miami package, which included new floor and sidepods and other stuff as well.

Miami unlocked a significant amount of time through fixing the steering issue.

This should be a 0,5s upgrade just based on weight reduction and 6 weeks of aero development. New wheel rims could be very useful too for race pace.

I will have to see it to believe it though given RB's hit and miss development for the last two years. Anything less than 3 tenths would be very disappointing.

Will see but imagine if it works and Max dominates the races until the end of the season. I can dream :)

.
It was Ralf Schumacher who concluded that because Paul is the first one who critized Max when he said the car was not good enough.
Nobody else said Paul is leaving. It could be but it also could not be. It is Ralf who is thinks this.

Rumours are the car will be entirely different (as in modifications across the whole car) , but an evolution of the previous design

Max has also sounded positive in interviews and has shaved for this weekend

All senior management of red bull including Thai owners will attend this weekend

I think they expect to win. I also do tbf, but I don't expect that performance to be consistent track-to-track and I also expect other teams to reovertake with next rounds of changes

But there are favourable circumstances: drag doesn't matter as much, slow corner performance for rbr is good already, and Mercedes will potentially be running detuned due to battery concerns in heat , Ferrari will use Friday to bed in new engine

So this is the weekend when the biggest championship comeback in the F1 history starts (unfinished business)

[-o<

Jokes aside, can't wait for the weekend to start and also expect it to be good but still should keep expectations in check.
