Can someone explain to me why it is Lotus have such drastic budget issues when the car is plastered with sponsorship? Doesn't look like they could fit much more meaningful sponsorship on the car. There are teams up and down pitlane with more budget and much less on the car. Along with prize money from Bernie for some pretty tidy results they should be OK.

You can have a hundred stickers and each gives a dollar...or you could have one massive one and get a truckload of cash... Quality over quantity.

Or you can make a smokescreen and make yourself look like you're in trouble to avoid paying taxes.

True, but can a toptier F1 team afford to do that kind of shady stuff? :?:

I'll be surprised if either one of the Lotus cars finishes the race. I'll be surprised if either one makes it half the race. I bet Marussia has a better showing, sadly.

I'll be suprised if either Renault powered cars finish the race :( I think everything depends on Renault what will happened in Australia. If practices are okay and Renault engine is at it's finest, teams will sure get their milage to make some setup work to be competitive. And if E22 is good car as they say it is, I can see them fight for points.

If someone said to me that you can have three wishes, my first would have been to get into racing, my second to be in Formula 1, my third to drive for Ferrari.

El Greco homage for Barcelona

Lotus F1 Team, on the initiative of owner Gérard Lopez, will pay homage to painter El Greco with a special livery for the Spanish Grand Prix.

The team’s E22 will feature branding of the major El Greco exhibition currently taking place in Toledo which commemorates 400 years since the death of El Greco, the leading figure of the Spanish Renaissance.

A commemorative helmet will be presented to the Spanish Prime Minister, Mariano Rajoy on the May 8 in La Moncloa, and to His Majesty King Juan Carlos I during his planned visit to the Lotus F1 Team motorhome at the Circuit de Catalunya on Sunday May 11.

“This is the first time a Formula 1 team has publicised a Spanish cultural event so prominently,”
said Gérard Lopez, Owner, co-Chairman and Team Principal.

“We will promote the El Greco exhibition – for no commercial fee - to a global TV audience of over 600 million people. Through this the legend of El Greco will be displayed in support of Spanish Culture and cultural tourism in Spain.”
