I'm saying this to say McLaren are evil or whatever ...
i agree. they are all devil worshipers obviously. or the illuminati, or something. but thats one of the reasons i like them.
Ooops meant to say "I'm NOT saying this to say McLaren are evil or whatever ..."

I recall maybe 20 years back the commentator Murry Walker saying well, its Mclaren against the rest of the world. And the world does not realise what it is taking on.

That has stayed in my mind all these years.

with renault update engine 2? ...

i think pre- test problems push mclaren little back to secure some possible problems with the new car...and save money ..the good news is we take a lot points in the first 3 races..and lot data with 3 double finish races ..i take a look on calendar and i see on jul have 4 races ...that is very critical point on this year targets...and if remember correct somewhere is three peat this year ? 3 races in 3 week?.. i love it ..but the team must be ready there ..with no time for develop for this races... i hope to see between spain-monaco-canada ...the new car with the new engine with lot pace gains and make the team to greate new group of top 4 and no top 3 teams....for baku i hope for chaos in the race ...and top 5 finish

The testing issues certainly pushed them back a little, but the new nose has clearly taken longer to get ready for passing the crash test than expected too. Makes me wonder how different it must be, because McLaren have always passed their nose tests very early in recent years. I don't think it's a money issue, they're not going to waste development on this "2017 B-Spec" car with such a different 2018 car in the works. If this update improves their qually pace as expected, it should also help improve their race pace. Hopefully it's enough to lift them to the front of the midfield, giving them a platform to chase the top 3, but I'll settle for 4th for now!

I haven't heard any numbers, but I do believe the first Renault upgrade is a performance one rather than reliability.

OK, great. Any idea if it finally includes an updated MGU-K? I believe they've had issues with that since last year.

First I've heard of Renault bringing a power update... Are you sure you aren't talking about Honda? They've announced their new engine is due Canada with a 30-35hp bump.
Sure you aren't crossing wires?

It better be good, or Eric will have to eat his words... and when i say eat his words, is to leave Mclaren. I think he could just say that they will bring a major upgrade for Barcelona.

With .3 seconds of extra pace they'd be well clear of the midfield. With half a second they'd be able to start where they start now and pass everyone in the midfield during the race.

I wonder if they stick more aero and less drag on the car if it'll accelerate their tire wear?

well, these 0.3 will apply also to RB and Renault... and TR deemed to get ~ same from Honda
And I bet teams like Haas/FI/Williams will get better understanding of their cars too

Around 27bhp, stop exaggerating everything that Honda does.

"Autosport understands Honda is targeting a step of around 27bhp for the Canadian Grand Prix in June."

I really hope the new car is good. McLaren shouldn't be fighting with Haas, Force India and Toro Rosso.

Renault are bringing a power update to Canada, is that Honda's plan too? There were no dates to the original quote from several weeks back, just that their first PU upgrade would be a performance one.
